Evan didn’t open his phone to ask a question. He opened it hoping to feel better about a decision he had already made.
One discussion sounded confident. Another disagreed. A third raised something he hadn’t considered. He kept scrolling.
Then he found the comment he wanted. He turned the phone toward Maya.
Evan “See? They’re saying what I was thinking.”
Maya “And what did you do with the one that disagreed?”
Evan “Kept scrolling.”
She didn’t offer a better prediction. She asked why agreement had become the point where his search ended.
The question had changed.
He hadn’t noticed.
At first, he wanted to understand the decision. Somewhere along the way, he began looking for relief from the discomfort of having made it.
Those searches can look almost identical. Both involve reading, comparing and asking people. The difference is what counts as a useful answer.

A reassuring response can feel like the finish line.

A response is useful when it adds something you can examine.
Agreement does not prove a trading idea is sound. Disagreement does not prove it is wrong. The useful part is the reasoning you can actually inspect.
Before opening one more opinion,
try three small questions.

What question am I trying to answer?
Put it in a sentence. “Tell me it will work” is a wish for reassurance, not a question someone can examine.

What would I need to understand?
Separate what the person shows from what they assume. Note what is missing instead of filling it in with confidence.

Would I read it as carefully if it disagreed?
You do not have to accept every view. Giving a contrary explanation a fair reading is different from following it.
